The Taskforce for Lung Health is a unique collaboration of over 50 experts in lung health, including people with lived experience, health care professionals, charities, professional bodies and industry partners all working to improve lung health in England.

Its mission is to prevent more people from developing lung disease and to transform the care of people living with respiratory conditions. An Industries Forum, which works alongside the Taskforce, includes representatives from the pharmaceutical, diagnostics, devices and digital industries.

The Taskforce operates two core working groups – Diagnosis, and Access to Treatments and Vaccines – each focused on a key element of improving respiratory healthcare.

The UK’s health landscape is undergoing significant change, driven by the Government’s 10-year health plan. This is a pivotal moment for the Taskforce to keep respiratory health on the national agenda and push for improvements in patient care and outcomes.

The Taskforce is calling on the UK Government to produce a Modern Service Framework (MSF) for respiratory that would set out the most effective, evidence-based interventions to improve outcomes, reduce emergency admissions and tackle deep-rooted inequalities. As the next step in calling for an MSF for respiratory, the Taskforce is bringing the sector together to identify the key interventions, gaps and priorities that such a framework should include.
